I trained in Tae Kwon Do from age four to fourteen. Two years ago my son started, and I got back on the mat right alongside him — now a 2nd Dan, and his coach.
Not long after, I started a competition team at the dojang where I train, wearing two hats at once: coach and dad. Building training plans, tracking down tournaments, chasing parents for who was actually coming, and writing the same email every week started to feel like a second job I never signed up for.
